Hi there! I’m Yueheng, a statistics undergraduate at SUSTech with a unique journey through industrial design to data science. My academic adventure has taken me from designing X-ray testing systems to building end-to-end futures price prediction models, reflecting my passion for combining engineering mindset with statistical rigor.

๐Ÿ“š Education

  • Visiting Student at University of California, Berkeley (Fall 2024)

    • Diving deep into AI, Computer Vision, and Statistical Computing
    • GPA: 3.90/4.0
  • Statistics Major at Southern University of Science and Technology

    • Previously studied Industrial Design & Engineering
    • Taken advanced courses in Machine Learning, Time Series Analysis, and Bayesian Statistics
    • GPA: 3.72/4.0

๐Ÿš€ Projects

Quantitative Trading System

Developed an end-to-end futures price prediction system at a hedge fund, where I worked on eliminating manual feature engineering and creating automated pattern discovery systems. It was fascinating to see how machine learning could be applied to real-world financial challenges!

Planetary Exploration Research

Worked on developing a multi-modal foundation model for planetary exploration, building a massive dataset from scratch and optimizing CLIP models. Who knew combining images with scientific data could be so exciting?

X-Ray Testing System

Led the development of an in-situ material mechanics testing system for X-ray inspection machines. This project actually sparked my interest in data science - watching real-time data visualization of material properties was mind-blowing! Even got a patent for it!
